Publisher’s note:
The Reagan Outdoor Advertising matriarch, Julia Reagan, passed away last week. Often seen at the side of her husband Bill at the OOH conferences, where I had the good fortune to speak with her. She was a delightful woman. Our sympathies go to the family, the Reagan organization and those who knew her. She will be missed.

The Reagan family shared the following obituary.

Julia Reagan
Our beloved Julia Louise Dolowitz Reagan, 81, passed away on June 12, 2024. She was born on October 30, 1942, inBaltimore, Maryland.

Julia was a dedicated student, attending Olympus High School and Mills College before earning a Ph.D. from the University of Utah. Her passion for lifelong learning and commitment to education left an indelible mark on everyone who knew her.

In December 1965, Julia had a chance meeting at a dance with the love of her life, William Kevin Reagan. Their romance blossomed quickly, and after five dates over three weeks, they eloped on December 26, 1965. They shared a remarkable 58 years of marriage, filled with love, adventure, and cherished memories.

Bill and Julia were truly soulmates, rarely apart for long. They met while Julia was completing her Ph.D. through a prestigious NIH fellowship. Both supported each other while simultaneously Julia completed her PhD, Bill completed law school and started Reagan Outdoor Advertising, also during this time they had two children!

Julia’s love of adventure, travel, and ballroom dancing was embraced and supported by Bill. Together, they traveled the world, visiting every continent and almost every country. Julia and Bill rarely missed the Third Saturday Night Dance Club.

Despite her introverted nature, many did not know that Julia was an avid sports fan. She passionately rooted for University of Utah sports, and the Utah Jazz. She was ecstatic about the arrival of professional hockey in Utah. Julia loved watching all her children’s and grandchildren’s participation in various sports, especially hockey.

Julia’s most cherished role, and the one she excelled at, was that of being a Jewish mother. She raised their children while Bill grew their business. She perfectly balanced pushing her children both academically and athletically while being incredibly supportive. She spent countless hours helping her children with their homework, quizzing them, reviewing their work and driving them to early morning and late-night sports practices. She guided all four of her children through their respective Bar/Bat Mitzvahs.

Julia’s children’s high school curfew was midnight, and at midnight, Julia was always perched reading at the kitchen counter, waiting to welcome-well, really inspect- her children when they returned home at exactly midnight.

Julia’s generosity knew no bounds, and she was always there for her family and friends. Her favorite pastime was shopping trips with her daughter, daughters-in-laws, and granddaughters. Julia loved birthdays and holidays and often went, according to Bill, “a little overboard.”

Julia was deeply committed to her community, volunteering with numerous organizations including the Assistance League, the Women’s Legislative Council, Registering Voters, and the National Council of Jewish Women. She also served as a board member of the Children’s Center, Valley Mental Health, The Rape Crisis Center, and the Foster Care Review. Julia’s legacy is one of service, compassion, and leadership. She touched many lives through her volunteer work and board memberships, always striving to make a positive impact in her community.

Julia is survived by her husband, William Kevin Reagan, and three of her four children and their spouses: Daniel (Kari Jo) Reagan, Frances (Jake) Copinga, and William (Lucy) Reagan, Brian (preceded in death) (Cara) Reagan.

She is also survived by her siblings, Sander (Anne) Dolowitz, Susan Morgan, Wilma Dolowitz, and Fridolyn Hicks.

She was a proud and devoted grandmother to her ten grandchildren: William, Spencer, Brian, Caleb, Aurora, Brooke, Brynn, London, William, and James.

Julia was preceded in death by her son Brian Reagan and her parents Frances and David Dolowitz.

Funeral services to honor Julia’s life will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Wasatch Lawn, 3401 Highland Drive. Viewings will take place at Wasatch Lawn on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 6 PM to 8 PM and Friday, June 21, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM immediately prior to the funeral service. At a later date, the family will have a private interment.

All who knew and loved Julia are welcome to attend and celebrate her remarkable life.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Julia’s memory to University of Utah Audiology Frances Dolowitz Scholarship Fund and the University of Utah David A Dolowitz Scholarship/Internship fund reflecting her lifelong commitment to helping others.

Julia will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and family will continue to inspire all those who knew her.
