At what point are you/did you/can you test? I wanted to wait until missed AF but 3DPO and I am suddenly itching to test asap, but I don’t want to get my hopes up by testing to early

Yea def don’t test that early! If you really need to test early, I’d wait until at least 8dpo but even then, you can still get a negative. But that’s the earliest I’ve ever seen anyone have a positive

@coco1031,
oh I’m not testing any time *soon* that’s for sure lol. I was thinking around 9/10dpo instead of 14, but I didn’t want to disappoint myself if it came up negative ♥️

I hear ya!! It’s so hard! With my first pregnancy I waited until 14dpo but with my second I think I tested at 11dpo, although I really wanted to test at 7dpo lol.
Good luck!

@coco1031,
haha same here, my first was unplanned and we didn’t know until I was 9 days late for my missed period, didn’t even think anything of it until I threw up lunch one day and a coworker joked “you’re not pregnant are you?” And I took a test on a whim, sure enough! So I’ve never really had to wait like this before, thought I could do it easily, but here we are
Thank you for the advice!! ♥️

8dpo is the earliest you can get a positive. The earliest you can implant is 6dpo, and then it takes a couple days after that for hcg to rise enough to turn a test positive. BUT, most people don’t implant on day 6. I believe day 9 is the most common implantation day. So definitely don’t count yourself out if 8dpo is negative!! But if you’re wanting to test early with a *chance* of getting a positive, 8dpo would be the soonest you could start testing.

@jtl-0264,
thank you for the advice! My first was unplanned and I found out on a whim 9 days after missed AF because a coworker called it jokingly after I tossed my lunch, so now that we’re actively trying for #2, it’s hit me how *long* the waiting period actually is I was going to wait until day 9 or 10 to test at the absolute earliest, but am so scared.
Thank you for the advice, though!! I really appreciate the insight ♥️

@Kaileywhisnant,
I’m definitely pretty “dry”, so to speak, in the CM department currently but I had a good bit earlier on in my cycle! I usually don’t track my cycle or ovulation, so I wouldn’t even know what’s normal for me or not

@sevenmama7,
that’s what I keep telling myself, these pregnancy tests aren’t cheap I actually don’t have any on hand right now so I don’t test earlier, but Im so close to caving to get to Walmart and grab a ton of cheapies to see if I can get any progression lines lol. I must stay strong and hold out a few weeks!
Sending baby dust your way ♥️♥️

you technically can test between 9-12 dpo, depending on the person and when it actually implants. I've learned the hard way to just wait to see if af is gonna show her ugly face. the reason they say to wait is just because test is positive doesn't mean it's a true pregnancy. so many of them are what they say chemical or spontaneous abortions. it's absolutely heartbreaking to get a positive test to only start bleeding before first Dr appt. it was a hard hard lesson I learned. I wish everyone the best of luck but take it from me. it's hard to wait but it's even harder for that positive to go negative a few weeks later

@Cnewt116,
im so sorry for your loss(es). Thankfully I’ve never had to deal with anything of the sort, but I can’t imagine how painful it is. ♥️
My first was an unplanned pregnancy and I didn’t find out until 9 days after missed AF because I wasn’t paying attention to dates until I was puking up everything and a coworker suggested I test. This was back in 2021. My DH and I decided we didn’t want anymore kids, but now that she’s almost 3, we decided we were ready and literally *just* started trying, no previous tracking or trying until the 19th. I don’t even know if it took this cycle, but it was worth a shot! I think maybe I’ll do one closer to missed AF but not super super early so if anything does go wrong, we can be prepared. Thank you for your input ♥️

I started testing on 9 DPO and saw a very veryyy faint line that gradually got darker as the days went on! I’d try to wait until 9-10 DPO if you can!

@knightly6,
yes! My plan was to wait around 9/10 days dpo, but wasn’t sure if that was too early. I’m thinking now maybe even waiting until 12dpo with an ER test just incase I get a BFN

@oopsjosie,
not a bad idea to wait until 12 DPO if you can!! I have no self control so I couldn’t hahah

It seems like a lot of people on here can get positives around 9-10 dpo, but I didn’t get one until 12 dpo. I took one at 11 dpo and couldn’t really tell, so I wish I’d just waited one more day for a clear result haha
